About Us
Stack Hacks was founded by 3 high school seniors who shared a passion for programming and a dislike for the way in which it is taught today. We noticed that as students, we never had the opportunity to work in groups, or the chance to use multiple languages on one project. This meant that while we might learn the language itself along with some other standard skills, we were sorely lacking in the collaboration and communication departments, which are crucial parts in the software engineering cycle. This was also a problem with self taught programmers, as they didn’t have anyone to work with being self taught. This inspired us to create this hackathon. A hackathon where we would give programmers the opportunity to learn and hone these necessary skills. One where they would have to challenge themselves to grow along with other programmers. One where the main focus was to cooperate and collaborate.

Our Rules
In order to encourage cooperation, competitors must work in duos, collaborating with a partner. Furthermore, each submission must use 2 programming languages in order to showcase cross-language collaboration. If you do not have a partner but still want to compete then do not worry. You can sign up alone and find a teammate via our Discord server. If by the time of the competition you still haven’t found someone, then you will be randomly paired up. As for sign up, that will be done through our DevPost page, along with the submissions. Sadly, the competition is limited to those who are 13 and above only. If you are too young and still interested, then you should know that we hope to make this a recurring yearly event, so just be patient! Good luck!

Mohammad Alwattar
Hi, I'm Mohammad and I'm a grade 12 student at Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School. In my free time I read about mathematics and physics and work on learning different programming languages. As of now, I have experience in C++, Java, Python, Rust, and Swift, but I am yet to decide on my preferred one. I was part of the team that won the Best UI/UX category in Ignition Hacks 2023 where we coded RecipeLens. Can't wait for some of the crazy ideas y'all come up with for language interop!
